Church Planting 101 is a one-day introduction to the subject in Bristol. Why plant churches? Who can be involved in this? Where is it happening, and where are new churches needed? How can we go about creating new communities that are good news locally?
There are different names for it, various starting points and diverse expectations, but in many places Christians are getting involved in creating new Christian communities that are rooted in local neighbourhoods or relational networks.
The historic term for this practice is ‘church planting’. Some are worried by this term. It smacks of institution, programme, even imposition. But most people involved in church planting today are more interested in relational, organic and incarnational approaches.
Come and learn with others who are interested in pioneering, creativity and mission in local communities. Through interactive learning and case studies we will explore the basics of church planting.
Trainers include Stuart Murray Williams and Mike Pears (Urban Expression) and Barney Barron (Incarnate Network).
Venue: Patchway Baptist Church, Amberley Road, Stoke Lodge, Bristol BS34 6BU
Cost: £25.00 (£15.00 if unwaged) This includes lunch, dinner and other refreshments. The evening session is open to others who cannot get to the whole day. No need to book. £5 on the door.
This one-day event is sponsored by Urban Expression and the Incarnate Network, under the auspices of the Crucible course, in partnership with Bristol Baptist College and the West of England Baptist Association.
