Crucible Course - First Weekend Update

The Crucible Course covers six subjects over three weekends. They are sponsored by Incarnate and run by Urban Expression and The Salvation Army. The first weekend took place in October - here is a brief update on how things went by Stuart Murrary-Williams.

We had 45 people there, divided evenly between the 'After Christendom' and  'Restoring Hope' streams. There was a good mix of people from various places and backgrounds, different ages and a good gender balance, although not such a good ethnic mix. With the sessions taking place in adjacent rooms there was quite a buzz around the place and people on different streams interacted during the breaks. The logistics seemed to go well, despite the complexity of running two streams in parallel, and the initial feedback from participants has been very positive (we're sending out feedback forms next week).

A good number of participants have booked in for the next two weekends, but we want to continue publicising the course between now and February. The subjects we will be addressing in February are 'Becoming Human' (on discipleship) and 'The Urban Challenge'. Please do what you can to publicise this weekend and encourage people in your networks to consider coming.

We have had a substantial grant to enable us to offer bursaries (covering food and accommodation as well as course fees, if necessary), so please let people know that they can apply for a bursary if cost is the only thing preventing them from coming.
