Incarnate Houseparty 2010

Wow! What a stimulating, challenging and refreshing houseparty we had this year. Around 50 people gathered in the lovely Somersal Cottages in rural Derbyshire. There was a mix of ministerial students, seasoned church planters, team members and regional ministers. They were from Albania, Macedonia, Holland and even some from the U.K!

There were people who are working in urban, rural and suburban contexts.

It was great to catch up with friends and hear what has been going on in the last year. It was also great to make some new friends and hear new stories of how God is at work in some fresh and creative ways. It boosts the number of friends on facebook if nothing else.

We had some great input from some great thinkers and practitioners. Hugo Anson managed to challenge even the most radical with his picture of the church as an herbaceous border. Matt Vlaardingerbroek inspired us with some tools for sustaining our motivation for the long run.

We also found time to connect with Christ with some very creatively led moments of worship and meditation. I felt the Spirit was very present through the whole time, but these times set aside were very powerful as we allowed time to sift information and allow God to speak.

The only question we are left with is how we follow that next year!? In the meantime I’d encourage you to participate in one of the regional groups. If there is not one in your area contact me about how we might start one. Many thanks to all those who participated in the houseparty.
